It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that Concerted Services, Inc. announces the retirement of Ophelia K. Gaines from her position of Executive Director effective July 1, 2017. Her retirement marks the end of a career in Community Action spanning more than 40 years. Mrs. Gaines got her start in Community Action going door to door to assist low-income individuals with programs such as Head Start, utility assistance, and nutrition programs. Her dedication and hard work over the years resulted in increased opportunities and responsibilities, eventually leading to being named Executive Director in 2007.

Mrs. Gaines’ enthusiasm and commitment to the goals of Community Action are extended to everyone she meets. She has often stated that she has been so fortunate that her work is truly her passion and something she believes she was called to do. It is this passion, instilled in those who will continue the agency’s work, which will remain as a part of her legacy.

Although her absence will be felt throughout the agency, Mrs. Gaines leaves the organization in a strong financial position with exciting programs and an effective staff in place. We look forward to continuing her legacy of accomplishment as a measure of appreciation for the dedication, passion, strength and motivation she has given our agency during her career.
Executive Board Chair, Carlos Nelson, states, “It has been a pleasure and honor to work with Mrs. Gaines to improve lives in the communities we serve. I truly appreciate all of her positive contributions and hope she is aware of the impact she has had on the Agency”.

Leading CSI in these continued efforts will be Bryan Singleton, who has been selected by the Executive Board to assume the position of Executive Director effective July 1, 2017. Mr. Singleton has over 20 years of experience in human resources and management in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors. He began working for CSI in the role of Human Resources Director
in 2009 and is currently the Director of Operations for the agency. Mr. Singleton has been working alongside Mrs. Gaines in the management of agency programs to ensure a smooth transition takes place.
