CSI operates senior centers in nine counties in Southeast Georgia. A primary activity at our centers is the Senior Nutrition Program. It is through this program that we provide weekday meals 250 days each year to eligible seniors who come into the center and those who are homebound. But the program is really about so much more than just a meal!

The senior program also provides social interaction – and we think most will agree this is just as important to overall health as a nutritious meal. County coordinators at each senior center work hard to create programming and field trips to meet the needs and interests of the seniors in their area. These activities become a reality through partnerships and generous volunteers.

Some examples of activities offered at different senior centers this summer included a beach trip, lunch outing, BINGO games, birthday parties, musical entertainment, costume/theme parties, exercise classes – we’ve been busy!

In addition to being fun, these activities gives our seniors a chance to get out in their communities, maintain their physical and cognitive functioning and let them see that members of their community care about them. And the best part is that many activities are open to all seniors in the community! If you would like to find out how to volunteer or help with an activity – or if you or someone you know is a senior and would like to find out about participating please contact our office at 912-285-6083 or 912-557-6687.
