In November we were proud to graduate the first class of CSI STARS!

STARS is a leadership development initiative that was developed and facilitated by our Executive Director, Bryan Singleton, and Head Start Director, Shelli Tyre. The purpose of the program is to build leadership capacity on both an
individual and organizational basis. Mr. Singleton explains that, “the leadership development initiative is designed to a) expose agency staff to all facets of programs and departments, b) provide individual and team learning modules, and c) provide opportunities to interact with and learn from local and national partners.”

STAR participants were selected from a pool of nominations received from CSI staff members. Once accepted, the group of eight took part in monthly activities beginning with Orientation and culminating with a class project. Monthly activities included opportunities to learn about all facets of our agency, get hands-on experience in each program and learn their strengths and compatibilities after completing the 5 Dynamics Assessment testing. Class members all stated they learned a great deal about the agency, particularly partner programs. For this reason, their class project consisted of planning and hosting an event that brought all program staff together in an effort to, “break down barriers and build bridges” between the programs. The event was a great success – and a lot of fun!
